where does our news come from?

Although its hard to trust many sources nowadays with the overflowing amounts of information we have access to, I find myself getting most of my news from the internet, whether its from The New York Times, CNN, or social media apps such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, ect. I tend to believe a lot of the things I read online because this form of media has become such a big part of our culture that it seems conceivable, even plausible. Sometimes it takes me digging deeper to realize that some sources have other intentions besides contributing to the truth. It's very difficult to ever know whats really going on because many stories on the internet are extremely bias, as they're coming from someone with an opinion who's trying to sway the reader rather than a neutral news source. While retrieving information from some sources can be more reliable than others, I tend to look to whats familiar and relevant, the internet, than more trusted sources. I believe that many others do this as well, and this can be credited as one of the many reasons why our news is twisted and misrepresented.
